What exactly is Microblading?
It is often referred to as eyebrow embroidery and micro-stroking. Feather like strokes are drawn onto the brows with a hand tool instead of machine. The pigments are deposited into the upper layer of the dermis, making it shallower than traditional permanent makeup technique. The results are more natural looking, hair like strokes that complement the existing hair. This method is ideal for those who are looking to change up their eyebrow shape, make their brows fuller or for those who are suffering from hair loss conditions such as alopecia.
But, there are contraindications, people who are not candidates for cosmetic tattooing: Skin disease, epilepsy, heart disease, severe eczema, someone who scars easily, pregnant and breast feeding.
Microblading is not recommend for Oily skin types.
What are Powder Brows?
Powder Brows is a technique done with a tattoo machine. The results are softer than Microblading. Powder brows are more ideal for oily or combination skin types but also hold well on more mature skin.
Powder brows give a soft finish similar to what it looks like to apply "powder make up" to the brows. If taken care of, powder brows last 2-3 years before requiring a touch up.
How to Prepare for the Procedure: *VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ*
I ask my clients to stop taking blood thinners, (ibuprofen) painkillers, aspirins, vitamin e and fish oil supplements 5-7 days before the procedure. Also, if they were to wax, thread or tint their brows; they should do it 3-5 days before they come in. Those on Accutane or other strong retinoids should wait until off all medications for at least 6 months. Please wait 4-6 weeks after Botox/injections. No children or accompanying adults are allowed in the room at time of service. This is a Health Department law.
NO alcohol 24 hours prior to procedure.
If you do not follow all of these directions, you will not be able to complete the procedure and will need to reschedule as well as pay a $50.00 cancellation fee for time rendered and lost.
Timing for the procedure varies, depending on procedure and the client. But typically it could last up to 2 hours. TWO topical numbing agents are used to reduce any discomfort. The discomfort level depends on your threshold and pain tolerance. Most clients report pain being about 1/3 on a scale of 1-10.
You will be sent home with detailed directions. The healing process, typically takes between 7-14 days. Avoid swimming pools, make up, saunas and intense workout. It is especially important to stay out of the sun until the skin heals.
Every client is asked to fill out paperwork at the time of their procedure.
There is a *$50.00 cancellation fee if you do not give AT LEAST 48 hour notice before canceling or rescheduling your appointment.
I respect you and your time, please respect mine. Thank you! :)
